Don’t really have a lot to say this time.
Part of the reason I’m able to do this project is that I don’t have kids so when I’m home from work, it’s just me, my husband, and my fur- and scale-babies. So since my menagerie consists of a bunch of child-analogues, it hurts like crazy when I lose one of them.
So Jeff (The Dude). He was this absolutely beautiful orange corn snake. We got him in late 2019 at about a year old. He was the calmest corn snake I’ve ever met – by which I mean he wouldn’t immediately make a break for it if you tried to handle him. He was always interested in what was going on around him. He was a fun little guy.
A few months ago he started refusing food and stopped being able to shed.
We tried different things to try to save him – adjusting humidity, adjusting substrate, helping him shed – but nothing helped and he kept declining. Finally we couldn’t take it anymore and took him to the vet. His prognosis was lousy and the vet didn’t even really have a great idea what was wrong. We made the tough decision to have him put down.
It hurts losing a family member.
Here’s my tribute to him. I just wanted to put a little thing to remember him by in my scrapbook. I recorded my process because that’s what I do.
Bye Dude. I’ll miss you forever.
